Scale Cards
If you have ever felt bored by playing your scales in the same order every day, or find yourself spacing out in the midst of your usual scale routine, this is one strategy for breaking up the monotony. This set of cards includes all major and minor scales, major and minor scales in thirds, and arpeggios.
Shuffle the deck and play through the whole thing, or a portion of the deck if you are short on time; just keep track of which ones you have played through so that you eventually get through the whole deck. Students who are still working on building their scales can remove the cards for which they are not ready. While playing through the deck, set aside cards that give you trouble each day so that you can revisit them slower and more methodically later in a practice session.
